Mahli was born with High Risk neuroblastoma, discovered by chance when she contracted meningitis at 3 months old! She’s been through a lot in her young life. While doing scans they discovered a 5cm tumour on her adrenal gland, which they discovered to be stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma as it had also spread to her liver.

Since her diagnosis she has undergone 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 bone marrow transplants and 12 rounds of radiotherapy.

Mahli is 15 months old this week and she is due to start immunotherapy at the end of February. She has a very long way to go until she is out of the woods.

Childhood cancer receives less than 10% of all government cancer research funding meaning there hasn’t been a lot of developments over the last 30 years. Just sharing Mahli’s story to raise awareness and funds so that future children diagnosed can receive kinder, more effective treatments upon diagnosis and also bring the mortality rate up as only 1 out of 2 children survive this type of cancer.
